I am proud to be a graduate of Airport High School. The faculty and staff hold students to high standards and encourage every student to strive to do above what they consider their "best".
There are a multitude of activities for the students to be involved in from fine arts, to student government, to ROTC, to athletics. The ROTC Drill Team places nationally at competitions, the fine arts programs win numerous awards at competitions, and the athletic teams are consistently making it to the state playoffs and contending for region titles.
I recently read that Airport received the Palmetto Gold Award and are an exemplary writing school. The same article also stated that the 2009 graduating class received a record amount of scholarship money--$6.9 Million. Airport also offers Career and Technology classes that the students can become licensed or certified in such as cosmetology and automotive technology.
The facilities are much improved since I was there. They have a new basketball arena, media center, cafeteria, and auditorium. The inside of the building has also been renovated.
I personally feel that unless you have 100% of parental involvement then you always need to improve. I don't know of any school that doesn't need to improve in that area.

Quality of academic programs are poor, teachers simply give assignments with no direction and there are so many poor performers in the classroom that they are distractions to others. Teachers ignore struggling students and chalk it up to not studying rather than simply not understanding the concepts. Music, art, and sports programs are great and are almost all Airport faculty members as well as students care about. Athletic awards, great. Academic awards, not so great. Facilities are great, just been renovated and the classrooms are new as well as bathrooms. Level of parent involvement would be none at all unless your child is on a sports team.
