This school has a very high level of academic programs. The IB hohors program that it offers is great, but very demanding on its students.
I would say that extracirruclar activities are not very well managed. This is probably becuase the school is a small school with none of its own sport facilities. They however do participate in Basketball and Soccer, but the kids are pressured with heavy academics and major logistics vis a vis travel to games etc. However the clubs and other societies that TBLS has, is fantastic.
Academic is superb TBLS has a great Head Master and a tremendous Body of Staff. The fact the the BasketBall team was close to winning a championship last semester was tremendous and, the small goal soccer runner-up championship was well deserved. Kudos to staff and members of the school team. Other games such as Tennis, Baseball/Softball, Golf, Volleyball etc, should be offered, and the provision of a Home Gym for TBLS needs attention.
What can I say about facilities. A NYC Specialized High School needs to represent itself as the "Best" that was the intent of its establishment. We need a better physical setting, better labs, a bigger library, more "Smart School" elements for computer and internet use.
A summary of the attributes of the school: Headmaster and Staff - Great, IB Program, nice. Parent-Teachers Association is well organized and with the right amount of parent partcipation will be even better. Its Critical Friends Sessions are wonderful. Student Led Parent/Teacher Review Sessions work very well. A Great School that has the potential to be NY's Best Specialized High School
