What school district is Carbondale Comm High School part of?
Moved to Carbondale to teach at SIU and brought daughter who finished high school at CCHS. Great experience. Very welcoming and having a higher diversity than neighboring high schools was why we picked it to avoid racist environment. Not enough AP classes, which was an issue with college admissions and scholarships, but honors classes were excellent and higher quality than the AP classes in high performing public high school she went to before we arrived. Best thing about her experience was that students were kind and normal, unlike some of the craziness of wealthy surburban areas in the US where so many students have psychological issues from the competitive stress.

CCHS is a wonderful and diverse learning environment. Administration is effective and transparent with students, staff, and parents. Counselors and teachers have been amazing! Going above and beyond to ensure the students understand and succeed. Students are provided with a strong college and career readiness and are getting the opportunities they need to succeed. CCHS has a welcoming feeling from the time you walk through the doors until you leave, you are greeted with smiles and hello's. A school where students have a voice.

This school building is decent, but the teachers there don't take the time to sit down with the students that need the help and they just let them fail and the government is like Why did these students fail? Well, this is the reason.

Large amount of fighting + a week bullying policy, mainly among black students. I moved out of the district due to said issues solely.
