I know Dutrow had some issues in the past, enough so that I was worried about sending my child here. However, after five years, I am so glad and grateful I took a chance on this school. It has been wonderful for my kids, who are at opposite ends of the needs scale one gifted and one who struggled. Both of them love it there and feel loved. I won't act like it's perfect, No school is. However, I would probably rank it in the top five elementary schools at NNPS. Considering that Dutrow obviously doesn't get the support or aid other elementary schools in the district do (either from the district itself or from fund-raising), that's impressive. What''s improved in this school has been because of the hard work of the faculty, staff, and parents, and it's paid off.

My children have learned very little over the last two years. There are no extracurricular activties and the academics do not seem suited to the needs of the students. The school open pods are noisy and many students are disruptive and disrespectful. The Principal and Vice Principal do very little to curb these actions. Lack of parental involvement. Many of the new teachers seems to be struggling with this sort of enviroment. Many of the veteran teachers are just waiting for retirement.
