School Reviews麻豆果冻传媒>4 10/7/2020Destrehan High has the nicest teachers you will ever meet. They give their very best effort every day and are happy with what they do. There is a pride that comes with being a teacher at DHS. Most of the good teachers are the teachers who have been working at the school for a long time. DHS is friendly but incompetent in every way. IDs are messed up every year, important events postponed or rescheduled constantly, they place all the stress on the counselors. Any time you have an issue with anything, you have to consult a guidance counselor. Any questions? Counselor. DHS has a zero tolerance bullying policy. Unless it's a teacher doing the bullying, then they will side with their precious teachers instead of believing you. Examples of teacher's bullying include manipulating the truth to give a referral. OR a teacher actively searching for a way to nail a student with a referral. Thankfully, most teachers aren't like this. But a few bad apples make the rest look bad. For the most part, DHS isn't strict and doesn't abuse authority. But it's that one teacher that makes coming to the school go from excited to miserable. Teachers need to be held accountable for unfair grading and bullying. However, as a school, DHS is amazing. Out of 4 years attending, I've only encountered two bad teachers. One of them was new and bad at grading, on top of the bad curriculum. So I give her the benefit of the doubt. But the other one was blatantly authoritarian and mean to her students.3 1/5/2019Destrehan High School is a very high-performing school. The teachers, for the most part, care that their students are passing and always put the best effort in. There are many extracurricular activities ranging from music (such as band and choir), to academic (such as Beta and National Honors Society), and hobby-related activities (such as gamer''s club and debate team). However, I rate this school 3/5 stars instead of 5 because several issues are often overlooked. One of the main problems is that the school and its district only aims for its students to perform well on standardized testing, especially in grades 9-10. Another issue is that despite the school having a "no tolerance" policy and being a "no place for hate" school, bullying/harassment are not addressed properly. Barely any of the teachers do anything to report bullying in their classrooms, and when a student reports an act of bullying, no consequences are given to the perpetrator, even after investigation. Another big issue is that the school only supports its athletes and honor students, but does not provide any proper services for other students.2 12/13/2010Overlooked problems at Destrehan high school
