I was a former teacher at Elliott Street for 4 years before moving to Florida. Elliott Street has high standards and expectations to ensure students are getting the education they deserve. I won''t lie, it is hard work but very rewarding. The school has a very large Hispanic population which makes teaching reading, writing, and math a bit more challenging. Some students struggle with proper English. Some parents do not speak English and are limited in their participation in their child''s education. This is worth mentioning when discussing test scores because the population and area are factors to consider. During my 4 years, I had the pleasure to have worked with both Ms. Johnson and Ms. Desantis. Both principals were very professional and approachable. The coaches were always willing to work with me and answer any questions I had. The school building is so full of technology and student work. If I hadn''t moved to Florida to escape the snow and cold temperatures, I would still be teaching at Elliott.
