School Reviews
2   11/9/2010
This high school is currently rated an F school by the state and is under threat of state takeover. Less than 10 percent of the student who take AP classes actually pass the AP exams. Although it is a performing arts magnet and therefore has great facilities, the academic offerings are substandard. Most alarming, the administration does not appear to have the vision or capacity to turn things around. Many of the teachers are mediocre in their ability to teach the subject matter and have trouble controlling the class.

All levels of academic courses are available. Administrators are open with parents and engaged with the students. Guidance Dept is responsive. I'd like to see more computers in the classrooms. Gibbs offers a wide range of sports & other activities. The arts departments seem a little short-changed to me, with more of the arts focus being funnelled to the PCCA program. Parent involvement is extremely low for a school this size, but those who are involved try to make up for those who aren't! Overall, I'm very happy with the education my student has received. I would definitely recommend this school.
