I currently have a son in 5th Grade and a daughter in 1st grade at JYE - I LOVE this school. Mr Rodriguez is a great principal who genuinely cares about EVERY student in his school. I live in the neighborhood and have walked my son to the front door every day - I see Mr Rodriguez interact with these kids every morning - it''s refreshing to see those interactions, even if it''s only a simple hello, that smile every day helps the kids feel more comfortable, welcome and ready to learn! The teachers my kids have had in their years at JYE have also been awesome! I've always been informed of what the kids are studying and what''s expected for us as parents to help our kids succeed - this is what I feel more parents need to understand - for our children to succeed it is a two-way street. The teachers work with our kids all day in class and we must reinforce those lessons at home - make sure your kids are doing their i-ready and their regular homework assignments. I've never had a problem with communication with the teachers at JYE. This year with COVID has been different, but the staff does a great job cleaning rooms and the kids feel safe. To be totally honest, I'm not pleased with the state of my neighborhood and have seen the decline the last few years, but I will not move until my daughter has completed 5th grade because JYE is such a great school and I know my kids are getting a great start to their education! THANK YOU JYE teachers and staff!

The communication with parents is not good. I ask several times for the class curriculum and the teacher just said you can find in the newsletter and I never heard the school's newsletter before. It makes me feel like I am not welcomed if I have more questions. I am considering to change school after kindergarten.

NO extracurricular activities besides "money making" activities. Also, extended day program is horrible.
