If you have an intellectually gifted student, this is where you want to send them! This school provides the challenge and support needed for an intellectually gifted student to excel. They provide a full GATE (gifted and talented education) curriculum. The GATE teachers are generally excellent. They allow your child to take math classes at Desert Vista in 8th grade if they have completed High School Geometry at Altadena before their 8th-grade year. They not only care about challenging the gifted learner but they have the processes in place to support them. As a parent of an 8th grade graduate from the Altadena program, I am very grateful that they got my child's unique needs. Don't try and make another middle school work for your gifted learner. Send them to a school that welcomes their uniqueness - Altadena!
