What school district is Lockhurst Drive Charter Elementary School part of?
My grandchild has Autism and started in pre-k with Melanie Sapon. I had heard from quite a few resources that she was a VERY special teacher and had a fantastic assistant named Kim. I chose to bring my child here, out-of-home school area. Believe me, this dynamic duo lived up to their reputations. I now have a second child who attends Lockhurst. I love this school. It's not overcrowded, the librarian, Karla, is awesome. The office staff are so friendly, not crabby like the ones when I was growing up, lol. The principal, Mrs. DeCorsi, actually remembers the names of the students and greets them with a big smile. Very impressive as most principals don't bother getting on a personal level with their students. If your child doesn't live in the district, you'll have to go on a lottery. That shows how popular this school is!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the school! The teachers are wonderful, and as a working mom who does the 6-6:30 aftercare pickup, I always see the principal Mrs. DaCorsi working late nightly - super involved and caring principal. I had the option to permit into Las Virgenes for work, and CHOSE to send my daughter here so that she can go to school with the neighborhood kids. It's a small, close-knit school with great faculty. Couldn't ask for more. =)

This is probably a good school for stay at home moms with average to advanced kids, but stay away if you do not fall into that category.
There is a huge guilt trip from the teachers and administrators if you work and cannot volunteer during school hours.
If you child has any special needs or requirements, the school will fight you every step of the way. We had to hire a lawyer to get our child the help he deserves. The AP actually told us that she could not give our child the resources he needed, because she would then have to give other kids the help they need also.
