School Reviews
5   3/28/2011
Did you know that Mission Avenue Open Elementary is an alternative school? Wait a minute, they are onto something.....something wonderful. While the school lives up to the state and district standards, they are onto something with Piaget鈥檚 developmental learning theory, Dewey鈥檚 constructivist learning theory, Montessori鈥檚 use of manipulative materials, and Kohl鈥檚 thematic, integrated curriculum. Wow, that sounds like a mouthful. Guess what? My child gets to experience this at school everyday.....and it is virtually seamless. What's not to love about this school? Not much. For a public school, it acts like a private school education that people normally pay for. Guess again? Your tax dollars go to this school and are well spent. How may public schools can say that in California? Let's hope that they are many. In the San Juan Unified School District in the Sacramento Area, you can find the investment the future, our future, well spent. Also, to add some additional information, Mission is definitely into the arts and music. It's a great place for all children to experience a creativity.
