Teachers were unaware of the location of students. Some of us would seldom go to class but were not marked absent. My civics/free enterprise teacher literally slept the whole time and gave everyone C (B or A if you cleaned his classroom for him). I was aware of illegal substances on campus several times while I was a student at northeast high in the 90s. Safety was often an issue. Overall, the school felt like a prison you were allowed to leave at will.
