Sports are more important to the school than the arts and music programs at the school. While we can send the baseball team to Florida to practice we cannot get many of the proper supplies. High-school and Middle-school classes have been mixed together because of the cuts to school because of the aforementioned reasons. The grades are now not focused individually because this school cannot afford to hire enough teachers. The academics at the school have gone down hill many of the honors classes have been taken out as well as a foreign language class. Only a handful of the teachers actually care about the students and the rest look the other way. A saving grace of the school is that there are many extracurricular activities,school wide events and foreign exchange students giving the school good diversity. This is not a good school to send your child to if you want them to excel in the world.

Mediocre quality of academic programs and the arts. Sports are more important than academics. Average to below average facility. Some parent involvement. There are a few good teachers who care, the rest just go through the motions. Many kids are not motivated to do well academically. If you care anything about your child's education you will not send your child here. Some of the kids opt to take classes at the local university to make up for the mediocrity. The turnover of principals and superintendants makes you wonder what is going on here. Northfield has one of the highest property tax rates in the entire state with most of the tax dollars being wasted at this school. Northfield High is one of the lowest academically performing schools in the state. Sadly, the school is a joke.

NHS has a reasonable academic program for accelerated students, but the faculty seems to underestimate the intermediate students. Classes are easy to pass for students who are intermediate or lower in learning ability.
Availability of art, music and sports programs is very intermittent. Basketball and Soccer programs are this school's saving grace.
Academic awards are very easy to obtain. I know of children who graduated with high GPA and awards in academics, who can't even put together a proper sentence on paper.
Parental involvement MUST be high if you want a student to succeed. Literally, ride the school's back if your children's education is important. If your child goes to this school, leave as little as possible to the misguided guidance staff. They will only counsel your problem student to attend a tech center so that they won't have to deal with them. Believe me, I know of a few students who had lofty goals that meant hard work and accelerated academic programs, who were encouraged to take smaller steps and try their hand at the vocational school instead.
