School Reviews

This school is unlike any other. It is the best in the Kansas City area. The negative reviews are by people who want everything to always go THEIR way. And when things dont, they complain. I dont see those who are complaining taking their children out. Why? Because it is the Best School In the Kansas City area.

This school is not what it seems. Unfortunately, the internal politics of SVN, both personal and professional have undermined a really good thing. At this time the school is very unstable. There are still some amazing teachers, but the overall feeling in the classroom is chaotic and lacks true leadership. There is a focus on irrelevant details, and a lack of true discipline when it comes to major issues such as computer safety. While some staff members are dedicated and cherished by their students, others are abusive, biased, and lack professional boundaries.

I had very high hopes for this school but it seems as if the administration has gone a little power crazy. Due to low-test scores the school has decided to make the school day longer by 1 hour to bring the scores up. When parents objected to this we were told they were not going to "budge" on this and if we don't like it then we can transfer our children to another school. We were advised on this one-week after school started and not really given a chance to find another school. When stated that the children need to be at home with their parents because we have such limited time with them in the evenings the principal said that the kids need to be in front of their teachers. It is presented to us that this needs to be done to bring up the low test scores, but I do not understand why every other school can accomplish this is a regular school day but this school feels the need to intrude on our time with OUR children. My child enjoys the school and the teachers and I do not appreciate being told withdrawal my child if I have a disagreement with unnecessary policies. There is a complete lack of respect currently and no wiliness to even discuss other options with the parents. At any other time I would have definitely recommended this school but not at the present time.

The quality of a school is measured by the dedication of the staff. Scuola VIta Nuova staff are committed to the individualized learning of each child. Reviews by terminated teachers are disappointing and do not reflect the focus of this school-which is on the children-not the drama. Yearly evaluations of staff supports the overall mission of providing a quality education for all children. As a parent I am proud to have my child surrounded by a caring, committed staff and principal!

This school is a treasure in the Northeast section of Kansas City. The curriculum is filled of all kinds of activities for the students., Most of the staff works very hard to bring about the best to the school student body. There are some facts that I need to point out.The principal does not delegate, she thinks she can do it all and does not pay attention to the real issues that are boiling inside the pot. She is in need of learning social skills to work with her teachers.Missing does not trust adults, so she thinks everyone is after her to take her job.All she does is show off all the work that has been done in the school but only on the surface. There is nothing in theinner being of this person. Students are not prepared for the next grade. But this does not matter to her. She was kicked out from a school in the district. Teachers united and accomplished that. The teachers at Scuola Vita are afraid of her. This is the reason some of them are still there. The teachers who were not coward were terminated. In the term of four years, she dismissed thirty-four members of the staff.(this is among teachers , custodians , office members). There is not enough money in the school to pay salaries, because she does not watch hou much she spends in things that are not needed. She tEerminates teachers when their salaries go up to 50,000 dollars, but she earns $95,000 a year. She herself asked the board to give her that salary. The sad thing is she is supported by Judge Schangler the owner of the school. She manipulates him and uses him. Unfortunately he sees stars through her eyes. With all this garbage happeninG there, who needs to put his/her child in this school?

I feel very priviledged that my daughter is a student at this school. Previously my daughter attended school in Overland Park Kansas, and I must admit that she has come a long way. There is simply no comparison in these schools. Not only is she exposed to various cultures, she is also given the opportunity to experience such things as soccer, ballet, and art. In Overland Park, we simply could not afford these benefits. She has done nothing but succeed since we made the decision to change schools. I feel she has an excellent teacher and a wonderful principal that is very supportive and a great role model. My only regret is that there is no high school. Hopefully in the next few years they will be able to expand.
