Great neighborhood school. Wonderful teachers, good parental involvement, safe environment and nice building. We couldn't be happier with the education our child received at Stoxkwell!

Let's start with the pros: The test scores are great compared to area/state for public schools. Office staff and new principal are friendly and helpful. Only know of TWO genuinely friendly teachers who care and have your child's best interest. Let the kids wear jeans for fundraisers. The CONS: Teachers have blatantly stated they are around the kids more than parents and try to parent them as well. They forget their salaries are paid by the taxpayers and are to TEACH and then discipline when necessary. The new teachers they hire do not know what the heck they are doing. A couple teachers we had shouldn't be around kids under 10, as they are sarcastic and scare the crap out your kids. If your child has issues on focusing they will demean them and in a "friend/parent way" suggest medicine/brands. Save up for all the fundraisers and whatever pampering gifts the teachers need. If you have girls, or a teachers kid, or a parent in a teacher click...you'll do great. Boys in general...good luck. Very strict on uniform standards, they take it to the extreme. They enable the kids who behave like bullies with NO consistent discipline. More parent help or aides in the classroom would help a teacher with a student ratio 1/27. I was involved in the beginning but as time went on I just couldn't wait for the school year to be over. I am so RELIEVED to move out of the area. We lived in a very well established neighborhood and I know a great deal of parents who are frustrated and so far this year are ready for it to be over. I've lived all of the country and my kids attended other "Blue Ribbon" schools and they don't compare to them. Good luck to future parents. I would suggest moving to Apollo, WT Lewis or Legacy areas.

I would not recommend this school for military parents. The teachers are not equipped nor do they care to equip themselves to better handle military families. Mrs. Walker is great, but I think she could do much better than stockwell.
