My 2 daughters went to LMS from 2017 to 2020. We moved to Louisville from Europe and I can only report great things about LMS. The staff was always super nice and open to us and very accomodating. My older daughter wasn't fluent in English when she started there in 8th grade but the teachers were always very kind and patient with her. I also loved the quality of the performing arts classes like theater and choir (amazing teachers!!), as well as art (amazing teacher too!). We spent 3 unforgettable years in Louisville and LMS will always have a special place in our hearts. Thanks to all the teachers and staff who accompanied us on this journey.

Hi there I am an 8th-grade student at LMS currently and have been here my whole 3 years of middle school. I think LMS is a fantastic place! Now I know that you probably saw the post from before and are thinking, wow my child would really hate going here but just look at the date when that post was written! 2008! Basically 8 years ago. But since 2008, LMS has improved a lot. We have quite a few new staff here at LMS including a new principal, vice principal, counselors, art teachers, math teachers, and a new theatre arts teacher. They have just recently remodeled the school interior as well and added an outdoor classroom. In 6th grade, many of my friends got a teacher or two who was particularly crazy, I was lucky enough not to have gotten any of them, but since then all of the teachers that were previously just not enough to be allowed to teach students here at LMS have been taken care of. In replace, we have hired some AMAZING new teachers while still keeping the great ones. I also personally know that one of my friends was bullied in 6th grade. The counselors at our school dealt with it once it was reported and the bully was punished accordingly. Since then, our school hasn't dealt with anything like that again. The community vibe is defiantly not cliquey as many people are welcoming to newcomers at LMS, I myself have made several new friends that have transferred over to LMS halfway through the school year. There are a lot of great clubs and activities at LMS that interest many different types of people. Our academics are amazing, especially the math, science, and language arts programs. As you can see, I have enjoyed my experience here at LMS very much as will be super sad to leave in may. I can see anyone from any background going to LMS and having a fantastic time there!

I went to this school all three years, and I feel that it is OK. The academics are not strongly emphasized, and the teachers range from phenomenal to abysmal. It is all the luck of the draw. There are many clubs, but most of the extracurricular emphasis is put on sports. The principal himself is extremely involved in sports, and if you are interested in strong sports programs, then LMS is right for you. However, if you are not particularly athletic (like me) then your needs may not be completely met. the building is average, and after 2008-09 it will be almost brand new. The arts programs are, in my opinion, very strong-- and the plays are good every year. If you are interested in fine or performing arts, you will love them at LMS.
The social scene is mediocre- very clique-y, but if you try you can make friends. Also, when there was an instance of bullying in my 6th grade year, the bullies were let off the hook and I was ignored in my complaints. If you want a school where everyone is friends, LMS might not be a good choice, because cliques are very important socially.
I personally had a somewhat positive experience, but some things were disagreeable- for example, the principal plays favorites and is untrustworthy. Also, the academic focus is all towards the mediocre- and academic excellence is not often well celebrated or even acknowledged.
