My child has attended Marley Middle school for the last two years and is now in 8th grade. The school itself is terrific. Her teachers are all very skilled, challenging and will do anything to help their students learn. My daughter has struggled with math since elementary school and the people here have bent over backwards to help her. The issue with this school are the attitudes of it's students (which I believe stem from home). Many kids come to this school with an I don't care attitude and spend more time trying to disrupt rather than learn. My daughter tells me daily of the nasty words and behavior that spew from many of these middleschoolers mouths. The few times I have been in the building, I have been appaled by the lack of common decency these children display. I would never allow my children to speak to any adult in the manner I have heard other's children speak. Parents of these kids need to actually hold their kids responisbile for their own learning and not blame the school or teachers all the time. I believe that many, many parents of the students going to this school need to teach their own child to be responsible and respectful, as well as hold them accountable for their education and behavior. It is not up to a teacher to parent your child. Their morals and values come from home.
My other daughter will be attending this school in a couple of years. By then it is my wish that more parents will become involved with their children and this school. It has the potential to be great. Wish other parents felt this way. . .
